Healthcare Real Estate: Adapting to the New Paradigm of Healthcare Delivery

Neil Carolan is Senior Vice President for Development for Rendina Companies, a large health care development company based in Jupiter, Florida. Prior to joining Rendina, Mr. Carolan had nearly 30 years of executive level healthcare experience in the areas of real estate, physician development, ambulatory and acute care and joint physician ventures as well as new MOB development.

Neil is also in his second year as Co-chair of BOMA International Medical Office and Health Care Facilities Committee and Conference and recently authored a book on healthcare real estate entitled Developing, Leasing and Managing Healthcare Facilities in an Evolving Healthcare Environment.


Peter Volas has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and healthcare serving in corporate and management consulting functions. Mr. Volas currently serves as Senior Director of Real Estate at Cleveland Clinic. In this capacity, he spearheads the efforts of a real estate portfolio that is approximately 24.0 million sq. ft. in four states and Canada with an emerging international presence in Abu Dhabi. His responsibilities include transaction management, asset and portfolio management, development, strategic planning, financial analysis, taxation, financing and value creation.

Mr. Volas remains involved with a number of civic, professional organizations and ventures including the Editorial Advisory Board for Healthcare Real Estate Insights and vice-chair for BOMA International's Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Conference.


Stephen K. Barry is Executive Vice President - Business Development & Leasing. Mr. Barry has spent the past nine years in a variety of healthcare real estate leasing, development and property management roles for Rendina Companies. His primary responsibility is the identification and pursuit of healthcare development opportunities in selected markets throughout the country.

Prior to joining Rendina Companies, Mr. Barry spent two years with JPMorgan serving as an analyst on the firm's Institutional Sales desk in New York. Mr. Barry's team covered over forty of the firm's largest institutional clients. The coverage included equity research sales and the allocation of secondary and initial public offerings.
